Saddened To Hear Of Ronnie Barker's Passing
As a child we used to only get the ABC, otherwise known as Aunty, to watch. That's what happens when you live in the sticks. Ronnie Barker, a larger than life British comedian, entertained us over many years with roles in Porridge, Open All Hours, The Two Ronnies and seemed to be on our screens almost constantly.
I have fond memories of a man who was very funny and who delivered his lines with a deadpan face. There was a little bit of smut and intimation but on the whole it was generally good, clean fun. I won't be the only one missing him. I'm sure my mum has a soft spot for him too.

You've got hat right. I loved him in Porridge, & Open All Hours. Was greatly shocked to hear of his death, and at his appearance. He was so thin, hardly recognised him.
I heartily agree with the comments on one of the links. He was a comic genious, and his timing was impeccable.
The two Ronnies were piss funny because they were from the school of hard knocks, unlike monty Python who were all from wealthy classes (although you can't deny they were bloody funny too!) But that's the reason why the whole bunch of them were together originally but then the ronnies split to do their own thing, they were on the same 'doing it tougher than these other spoilt comedians' wavelength.
the other split of course was the Goodies, what a era of comedy the poms had going in the 70's!
