War - In The Living Room

I guess this won't appeal to too many of you but we boys like playing war. On Sunday the boy and I set up a couple of castles and had a battle between the Koreans (Yu-Jin) and the Japanese (Me). I have American and Japanese soldiers from when I was a kid and it's always fun to play. Maybe not the setting up part but the destruction is.

Koreans vs Japanese War Video

Yu-Jin's fortifications for the Koreans.

Behind enemy lines.

Japanese fortifications.

Up close and personal with the Japanese.

Korean aftermath - strong defences but not protective enough.

Japanese aftermath - couple of survivors.

Yu-Jin plays for keeps, doesn't he? He looks to be getting quite tall, too.

Where did you get the timber from to make your 'fortifications'? You have a lot of it.

Ju-Min bought the blocks for the boy. I can build a tower with them that reaches about 2m before it topples.

Sorry Dave. I always take the part of the Japanese. There are less soldiers so I have to be better than the boy. Although, in this particular battle, we were limited to 20 soldiers each. He takes ages to set up his men otherwise.

History never repeats. It wasn't historically correct. Well, not that both sides had a castle to fight from, anyway.

What ever happened to playing army men the old way? You know, set them up on the floor and use rubber bands to knock 'em over! I think i need to buy some army men and show the boys how it's really done!!

Playing army men the old way, with a rubber band, is a little difficult for a young boy. It used to hurt my thumb like crazy when I was a kid. We generally use a tennis ball, which in this case would have been over the top, so the game doesn't go forever and so that I don't beat him too badly.

That was a great idea lol! I am going to steal it hahaha. But I think I will use a little D&D dice. And assign an attack to a number on the dice. Roll: 4 , multi-ball attack- Roll: 6, lose a tun- Roll 1, fire cracker attack....and so on hahahaha
