Watch Out For This Bus Driver

Be on the lookout for TransPerth Bus No. 1604. Yesterday at 7:54AM on the freeway this bus, on route 882, pulled off the freeway sharply into the emergency stopping lane. Traffic was very heavy and it kept going at normal speed and overtook many vehicles. About 500m later the male driver indicated that he wished to return to the traffic.

I was gobsmacked. The traffic hadn't come to a standstill and there was very little to be gained by driving in the emergency lane. Don't understand it myself. TransPerth should be made aware of the dangerous, and illegal, tactics employed by one of its drivers.

Hi there,
As someone that catches public transport into work everyday, the buses are allowed to use the emergency lanes to travel. There is even a sign at the beginning of the lanes just after the Mt Henry that says they can. Its because the bus lanes have been shut down due to the railway construction.

We have a definitive answer folks. Thank you Anonymous Commenter. Perhaps the Cutlers can verify this fact.

Tom – perhaps you live too far north of the river to see the sign.
Cutlers – you go past the sign in the mornings therefore you deserve a slap on the wrist.
Mum – seeing as you live 3000 kms too far east of the river you are forgiven.

I have been informed by a regular bus user that there is a sign, about buses using the Emergency Lane. I don't use the freeway much but have never noticed it, too busy dodging maniac drivers or most probably doing my hair - Hammy knows I'm joking.
Anyway don't think its right that they can use the emergency lane - why are they called emergency lanes?
Oh and another thing - I think that bus lanes should be used by Motorcycle riders as well. Get people out of these big 6 cylinder saloon gas guzzlers!
