What's Julia Gillard's New Slogan?
Before the last federal election Julia Gillard had the slogan "Moving Forward". Whenever she was asked a question relating to policy and mistakes made by the Labor Party the answer was always the same - "We're moving forward".
Now that Labor is floundering in the polls and there is some talk from her party that has reached the media, with the possibility that she will be replaced, she doesn't seem to be moving forward anymore. Now she's stated "I'm not going anywhere".
I think this is the point where Gillard has gone as forward as she's going and has stopped just prior to moving backwards. It's as though she hasn't felt the knives in the back yet, perhaps they're still being cleaned after deposing Kevin Rudd, but they are certainly out. I said at the end of last year that she would lose her position before the next election and be replaced by Stephen Smith, the current minister for defence, and he has been very quiet of late. Strange, that.

Flood Levy or Flood Levee?
Following the devastating floods in Queensland, Victoria and even Carnarvon in Western Australia, PM Julia Gillard has said that we must have a flood levy. No if, buts or maybes. Must have. The Australian taxpayer is to fork out for the repair to infrastructure, mainly in Queensland, and I'm presuming if that is even state property. I've got no issue with Federal property being repaired with Federal money but state property should be fixed by the state in question.
Gillard's plan is to introduce a flood levy whereby people who weren't affected by the flood and who earn over $50k per year will be hit on a sliding scale for somewhere between $1 and $5 per week. There's a few more details here. Doesn't sound like much, does it. Considering that 60% of Australians will pay less than $1/week it sounds to me like another tax on the rich. Typical Labor Party tactic. Do they not think that "rich" people are already mortgaged to the hilt, along with those in the mortgage belt, and that they have plenty of excess money to give away?
There's a few things that irk me here. No consideration is given to those that have donated already and should be exempt to the extent that they have already given. If you have a greater income you will pay a higher share. The State's responsibilities are somewhat overlooked and the Federal government will be bailing them out (which is perhaps okay given the sheer size of the devastation). Where is the claim against town planners who allowed people to build on river flood plains? People that didn't have insurance shouldn't be bailed out as this sends the wrong message. The younger generation is likely to think that the government will bail them out. If you can't afford car insurance when you buy a car you can't afford the car in my book. And Australia should just borrow the money to rebuild infrastructure instead of worrying about getting the budget back into surplus. Hell, they'll only be taking $1.8b from the taxpayer due to the flood levy. Still has to get through parliament though.
Man, I think that it should be a flood levee instead. Pay to build a mound of earth around these rivers and that would be a better way to spend the money. Just rebuilding in the same place is stupid and very short sighted. Heck, why not send the useless and unwanted buildings for schools that wasted some $20b to Queensland and be done with it.
On the other hand we should be helping out a mate in the old banana bender. Now is a wonderful way of creating a purpose built infrastructure but nobody has that far-sighted vision. It'll be pretty much a straight replacement and no improvement. Much like Julia Gillard was for Kevin Rudd.

Gillard Has Declared 2011 a Year of Delivery and Decision for her Government.
So, Julia Gillard has declared 2011 a year of delivery and decision for her government. Well thank goodness the Labor Party has actually achieved something after three years in charge - a decent slogan. Is anybody still buying this shit? And how the hell are you going to increase job opportunities when unemployment is hovering around the 4% mark which is generally regarded as full employment?
Wake up Australia. The years 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 we just as good for delivery and decisions. Still plenty of time this year to deliver and decide. I'm sick of this political spin and bulldust.

What Will Julia Gillard Be Doing After August 21st?
It struck me tonight - What will Julia Gillard, our current prime minister, be doing after the election on August 21st? It's seems all the more clear that she won't be prime minister at least. Tony Abbott needs to keep his mouth, and those of his deputy Julie Bishop and shadow treasurer Joe Hockey, shut for another three weeks for that to happen though.
I watched Julia Gillard tonight on the 7:30 Report with Kerry O'Brien. He asked the tough questions, to which many she feigned to laugh, but she answered very few of them no matter how pressing Kerry was. One of my colleagues commented that she has no credibility.
- I don't think that Julia is cut-out for a job as a stockbroker or share trader - she doesn't like to speculate.
- I don't think that Julia is going to get a job race-calling on the track or providing opinion on footy matches - she doesn't like to comment.
- I don't think that Julia has a future as an autobiographer - she has nothing to say about herself.
- I don't think that Julia will become a talk show professional guest - she has not done anything to brag about or appear to have any achievements to be proud of during her time in government.
- I don't think that Julia could be a patron of any organisation - she doesn't care for the sick and underprivileged (Kevin Rudd didn't even get a phone call from her when in his hospital bed after having his gall bladder removed).
- I don't that that Julia could become a scriptwriter - her message uses the same words each day but says very little.
- She does have a future as a newsreader or actor - she reads from a script very well.
- She does have a future as a surgeon - she really knows how to stick the knife in.
- She did have the possibility of becoming the Western Bulldogs' full forward but Barry Hall appears to have done enough to cement his position for this year and possibly the next. Julia will be too out of shape in two seasons time to take over.
At least Pauline Hanson was still interesting after she finished in politics.

You Are Wrong Gordon Ramsay
I guess you've all heard the furore over Gordon Ramsay calling Tracy Grimshaw a pig. He also refered to her as a lesbian. Grimshaw has apparently gone to great lengths to show that she isn't a lesbian.
Our prime minister, Kevin Rudd, said that Ramsay was a "new form of lowlife." It's funny that Australia's deputy prime minister, Julia Gillard, commented that Ramsay should, "get back in the kitchen." Don't you find that to be an ironically sexist remark?
Well, Gordon Ramsay, you're wrong. Tracy Grimshaw isn't a pig. She's more like a bulldog chewing a wasp or a botox experiment gone wrong.
Many people are calling Ramsay "sexist" for his comments. I think maybe he gets a bit carried away and thinks they are saying "sexy" or "sexyist". Don't call me a sexist though. I get enough of that from my wife. But she would say that. She's a woman.

Once Again The ALP Doesn't Tell The Whole Story
The Australian Labor Party are pretty good at not telling the whole truth, aren't they? Smarmy Kevin Rudd, leader of the ALP, is running a campaign to eventually lead to him becoming Australian prime minister in 2007. It even comes with the catchy, if a little tacky, slogan of "Kevin 07".

At least he's not licensed to kill. But what worries me is the fact that the whole story isn't being told. Where is the rest of the slogan which relates to his deputy, Julia Gillard? I know what it is:
"Gillard. In a milliard!"
Perhaps I should tip off the current prime minister, John Howard. He's such a cool and happening dude he may use this information to flame the Labor Party.
