Trip To Grandma's House - 23rd January
As I mentioned, the rellies were quite sick following tea last night. I spent the better part of the day going through my wardrobes and collecting stamps from old letters. Still couldn't find that dratted squash racquet.
Nearly none of the clothes in my cupboard fit me. It was embarrassing about how far away I was from fitting into some of them.
Today Yu-Jin and I went to visit my mate's mum and dad, the Lopsiks, and being a little bit shy Yu-Jin was quite busy colouring in his Justice League activity book. It was great to be able to visit them and find out what is happening in their world.
Tonight dad and I went for a walk and collected 20 cans/bottles/cartons.
I'm known as a Frugal Bastard as I'm careful with my money and don't like wastage. I travel a bit, take lots of photos, make videos and like sharing my own silly opinions on stupid things and spelling mistakes that I discover in the media. Political comment and satire have a place close to my heart. I also major in sarcasm.

He's Fine
Yu-Jin went to school yesterday before he could see the doctor about his arm. The doctor said that the arm was ok and that he should be fine. No need to wear the splint anymore. There was a nice bruise on the arm this morning however.
Miky took a couple of pics at school and he looks funny with a splint on his arm. Interestingly, Miky wasn't allowed to stay at school with him for his first day. Not that that did any harm. Yu-Jin has been in daycare since he was 18 months old and so it shouldn't bother him. I dropped him off at his new out-of-school- care centre and he was happy enough as there was another boy there that he knew from Technology Park Child Care Centre.
Looks like school is not going to be a problem for him. Dunno about me though. I left 15 minutes earlier than usual and still got to work at the same time. My day is just going to be eaten up, I can see.

My Mum Is Onboard
Me mum has joined the world of blogging. Find her at The Life and Times of Susan.
Damn, her comments work better than mine.

Boys Will Be Boys
Got a phone call from the Childcare Centre yesterday. I dread it when somebody from there is calling. Yu-Jin was running around outside and fell over and hurt his arm. Yesterday was his last day and I received the phone call 15 mins before knock-off time. His arm had been placed in a splint after he had stopped using it.
Actually, he had run into another kid, fallen over, complained that it hurt, got some attention, and then ran back to the sand pit to play. One of the carers noticed later that he wasn't using his arm and alarm bells rang. So when we arrived we found it to be in a splint and he was getting lots of attention. That never hurts.
Last night I got him to flex his fingers without discomfort but he couldn't grab onto my hand. Same story this morning. Once I got to work I made a doctor's appointment for him and Miky took him to school for his first day. The appointment was in the afternoon following school. I'll let you know later on what happened.

Trip To Grandma's House - 22nd January
Managing to keep to Perth time and get out of bed around 8:30am. Can't get the boy to bed until around 11:30 and he is still bouncing off the walls at this stage. He is full of beans and quite excited to be with Grandma and Grandpa.
Today Yu-Jin and I went for a walk around South Terrace in Bordertown and had a look at some of the wildlife. There were bullants, which particularly bothered the young fellow as he thought that they wanted to bite him, an egg that must have fallen from the tree quite some time ago but was still intact, a hive of bees and we also collected three cans. Yu-Jin was quite excited about collecting the cans. I told him that they are worth money and so he really wants to go for a walk with Grandpa and myself.
I spent a great deal of the day cleaning out my wardrobe. It has been a few years since I've been home and I was particularly searching for my squash racquet - need to get rid of the gut I have grown. Quite a bit of stuff got thrown out and I grabbed some toys to give to Yu-Jin. No luck finding the racquet but I did manage to get lots of stamps from the old letters I had been saving.
Although today is my mother's birthday, we were celebrating my sister's 30th (actually tomorrow) at the Keith Motel. The boss was away and so they hadn't maintained our booking and when we got there there wasn't a table for eight set aside. No matter, as the number of people frequenting the dining area was minimal. I didn't hold out much hope for our meal when our waitress couldn't even take our drinks order properly. And she seemed to be writing it down. I don't know why but she didn't appreciate my order of a chocolate milkshake as a drink. Well, it isn't exactly a meal is it? At Hungry Jacks that is another story.
Yu-Jin ordered the same food as his cousins Lachlan and Riley, my Mum had the same meal as my sister, Dad had the same as my B-I-L Pete, and I had something completely different (Jumping ahead a bit, but, Deb, Pete and Riley were all sick the following day).
Can't say I thought too much of the food. It was there, could be eaten, but it wasn't of the best quality. Much better value, and tastier food, could be gained at Siena's in Perth.
We went back to my sister's place and had the cake - a black forest cake. Yu-Jin had been helping Mum make this the day before. Nearly needed the fire brigade as there were so many candles on it! (I don't think that my sister reads this so I can write what I like) All of the boys, Dad and myself played outside - kicking the footy and throwing a tennis ball around. Riley threw the ball into Yu-Jin's eye and got some dirt in it. Needless to say, Yu-Jin wasn't too impressed. But, the boys did have a good time together. I did have two pieces of cake as I realised that it would be staying at my sister's house and I wouldn't see any more of it otherwise.

Trip To Grandma's House - 21st January
Yu-Jin tried to get me up at about 7:30 am (5am Perth time) but I managed to get some more sleep until 8:30 before he finally annoyed me enough. We went to do some shopping and there was a park, Tolmer Park, across the road and Yu-Jin wanted to play. We did so, after the shopping mind you, and then I thought that the albino kangaroos were just down the road and that we should have a look at them. Spent a bit of time at the Bordertown Wildlife Park and saw lyre birds, emus, wallabies and the famed albino kangaroos. Not a lot of feed for the poor buggers though. Yu-Jin managed to feed one of the roos a weed.

My father goes for a nightly walk around the town and it generally takes him about an hour or so to complete. Tonight I joined him and we managed to collect 20 cans/bottles/cartons on the trip. Well, there is a five cents deposit on these items if purchased in South Australia so why shouldn't we pick them up? This figure matched the best collection that Dad had managed by himself on one of these walks.

Trip To Grandma's House - 20th January
Miky started her detox program today - Yu-Jin and I left on holiday. No, she bought some hideously expensive product that told her to eat vegetables and drink plenty of water. She went to work early and left us to our own devices.
We caught a taxi to the airport and the driver, Samir, was good for a conversation. The taxi company now makes you pay an extra dollar if you may a telephone booking. That is going to raise them a bit of money.
While waiting for our plane, not the easiest thing to do with a four year old, I saw a guy that I studied with at uni. Just had to say g'day.
"G'day John, how you going?"
"Aaah, hi Kim."
Laughter followed. Even John's wife backed him up - I looked like his friend Kim.
Yu-Jin was very well behaved on the plane. When the stewardess asked if I wanted an activity pack I said, "Sure, and have you got one for my son?" I only took the one. It had a pack of cards and so we played Fish - Yu-Jin almost beat me.
Managed to get quite a few pics of the fires burning around Perth.
We had this young punk sitting in front of us. He was jumping around in his seat and walking on the armrests to get into the aisle. He was a right little jerk. I told him off at one stage and he almost started crying - toned down his childishness though. Little bastard destroyed his headset when we landed so I got one of the stewardesses to talk to him and he complained about his mother waiting for him and why should he be getting into trouble for talking to his friend (another unaccompanied minor as it turned out). She told him to wait for her so that she could talk to his mother as well. Needs a good deal of straightening out that boy.
Found Mum and Dad soon after landing and we went to my Grandmother's house for tea. I haven't seen her for a few years and Yu-Jin was on his best behaviour. He sat there and ate all of his tea by himself with no complaints.
Dad and I went for a walk along the beach which was only two blocks away. Yu-Jin said that he didn't want to go because it would be too cold. He was correct. The wind was a-blowing and it was cold. I managed to pick up some great scallop shells among others. Not the sort of thing that you find on Perth's beaches intact.
It was just after 9pm when we left and Dad drove out of the city. He let me have a drive for the next two and a half hours. We arrived home at 12:30 in the morning. Yu-Jin slept all of the way from the last set of traffic lights in Glen Osmond. Quick shower and off to bed.

Lleyton This, Lleyton That
I'm an Aussie and fairly proud of it too. However, that doesn't mean that I see the world with only one eye. Miky and I were cheering on Marat Safin in the Men's Final at the Australian Open against Lleyton Hewitt last night. Yu-Jin doensn't understand the game of tennis enough yet and was cheering for whoever had won the point.
Lleyton may have lost the match, fair enough - he did well to reach the final, but he stole the headlines with his engagement to Bec Cartwright - after going out together since December. I see through it though. I've heard the stories about how Kim Clijsters didn't get on with the prospective parents-in-law and that was one of the reasons she didn't get married to Lleyton.
Bec Cartwright has had the wool pulled over her eyes. Before she gets a chance to know the Hewitt family, and learn to hate them like most other people, she may become one of them. Sad really. Or maybe it is an act to boost her career as I feel that she couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag.
We shall see.
