I've Been Robbed - Olympic Memes

Back in June, 10th to be precise, I created a meme with an Olympic theme. I called it "Guns versus Speedos". Maybe I should have copyrighted it. This evening my Facebook news feed showed that one of my friends liked "Olympic Memes". I've been enjoying Soccer Memes, Sports Memes for a while now, and recently discovered Perth WA Memes, so I thought I'd check it out. Scrolled down the page a bit and, quite to my surprise, found the meme that I had generated. And they credited some guy called Tadhg Mooney for it. WTF? Credit where credit is due, mate. Here's the evidence - Guns Versus Speedos

West Coast Eagles vs Gold Coast Suns 30.6.2012

Went to the footy yesterday to witness an absolute thrashing of the Gold Coast Suns by the West Coast Eagles. Only 126 points in it at the end. Turned out I was seated quite close to Barry Cable, a recent inductee of the AFL Legends of the Game, so got a decent photo of him. He was also interviewed at the halftime break. Just the introduction which listed many of his achievements took up so much time it was almost time to head back out to watch the second half. Guns Versus Speedos

So the bad boys of Australian swimming, Nick D'Arcy and Kenrick Monk, got in trouble posting a photo taken of them posing with guns. Not a good look before the Olympic Games considering their reputations. Swimming Australia issued a take down notice so that the photo was removed and apparently they've been banned from using Facebook, Twitter and Blogger during the Olympics. And they need to leave the Olympic village early. What sort of uproar would there be if Michael Diamond, champion shooter, posted a photo of himself in Speedos? Would he be subject to a similar take down notice? One thinks not. Guns vs Speedos meme Here's my attempt at a meme on the subject.

Job Cuts In The Banking Sector

People, well the media at least, jump at every opportunity to bash the banks when they announce job cuts. Not without some justification mind. The other day I had to use the services of a teller and it frightened me. I was withdrawing some USD and she asked me if it was better for me with the Aussie dollar now being worth less than a dollar. Excuse me?! You work in the banking sector and have no idea how foreign exchange rates operate?

People, there is still quite a way to go with job cuts I'm afraid. "Room to move"is how they put it, I think.

Service (Partially) Without The Smile

My watch battery had carked it and so required replacing. Spent a bit of time looking around but there are few places these days that offer the service. I guess people don't use watches as much nowadays. Anyway, I thought $28.95 just to replace the battery was a bit much.
The guy took his sweet time to do the job whilst we were waiting and then was quite happy to inform me that the back of the watch had been done up too tightly. Perhaps my explanation that a lady at his shop had done it last time didn't go down too well. He asked me if I knew how to set it, as it is quite complex to do so, and handed it back to me when I assured him that I did. I mentioned that the lady gave me a discount last time because I set it myself. His response?
"I don't do that."
"You can set the watch then," I said.
"I need the instructions," he replied.

Full price but not full service. Not happy.
